UO adds Native American Studies minor to ethnic studies curriculum
The University of Oregon is providing students an opportunity to learn about historic and contemporary Native American issues through a new Native American Studies minor, offered as part of the College of Arts and Sciences’ Ethnic Studies program.
This is one thing that you miss out on when going to a very small college—our women’s studies program was fairly new, and this was at a women’s college. Ethnic studies didn’t even exist. (And yes, I’m sure that’s partly because of racism, but to be fair, our religion major ceased to exist for a few years while I was there because one professor left, and that was something offered when I arrived as a first-year.)
